Exemplar 1: A proposition for FLASH curriculum as an intervention tool addressing disproportionatelyhigh sexually transmitted infection rates amongst Alaskan adolescents

Interventions, like health education, are beneficial for decreasing rates of chlamydia and other STIs in Alaska. Engaging adolescents in reproductive health education curriculum is a strategy that emboldens upstream efforts and promotes prevention through awareness. This paper reviews the FLASH curriculum for use in public schools and describes prevention strategies for lowering the incidence of STIs.

Exemplar 2: Professional Development Series for Itinerant Public Health Nurses

Between October--December 2024, a specialized professional development series was created for Itinerant Public Health Nurses in Alaska. Content featured information on various Alaska Native cultures, historical events that caused harm and trauma, and strategies to engage rural communities for better health and wellness.

Exemplar 3: Health Equity Proposal

The rate of suicide among non-Hispanic American Indian or Alaska Native persons increased nearly 20% from 2015 to 2020, from 20.0 per 100,000 to 23.9 per 100,000 (Stephenson, 2022). This paper explores health disparities in Alaskan populations, and provides information on determinants of these disparities, and effective interventions.

Exemplar 4: Webinar on Community Approaches to Substance Use and Harm Reduction

This webinar involved evaluating care delivery models, reviewing community assessment data, and synthesizing information into a presentation that explored opportunities for engagement and support around harm reduction and reducing substance abuse.
